July 2013

Dear Friends, Photographers & Adventurers...

I hope everyone is enjoying a great summer! I have finally put together my tour line-up for 2014 and there’s something here for everyone.

There are still spaces left on the Texas Whitetail Photo Shoot Contest that is being held with the ICF (Images for Conservation Fund), a group that is teaming up private ranches in Texas with photographers. Last October I had such a great time that I offered to coach two sessions this October. If you enjoy really big whitetail deer then you have to attend!

I recently had one space open on my trip to Easter Island and Patagonia, this trip had been full for about a year, so here is a first come chance to join the group.

I have been taking folks into Yellowstone Park for many years via snowcoach in the winter. I am just doing one trip this winter and it is limited to 7 individuals. So I suggest you sign up soon for this one as it generally fills very fast.

The group that went with me to wintry Minnesota for the Winter Wildlife Shoot last year had a great time with trained wolves, coyotes, fox, mountain lion, lynx, bobcat and more. This is your chance to get portraits and action shots of these hard to get predators in a natural setting! Just be prepared for snow and cold!!

I am one of a handful of tour operators that has a permit to take folks into the Pryor Mountains of Montana after wild mustangs. Imagine photographing the horses as they thunder by you on a mountain top at 8,000 feet. These are the same horses you have seen on TV specials with “Cloud” the most famous wild horse in the world.

A new trip in 2014 is the Polar Bear, Caribou and Northern Lights tour in northern Canada. We will be photographing these big predators on foot in tundra fall colors! We’ll travel north of Churchill to a remote lodge on the Hudson Bay. Because I have to reserve rooms asap this is a trip you can not sit back and consider for long. Sign up today, the lodge has limited rooms and we’ll be sharing space with other eco-travelers.

Madagascar is one of the most special places on the planet. More than 80% of the plant and animal life is found nowhere else. I led a trip to this large island country in 2011 and I am going back next October. If you have always wanted to see this amazing place and photograph lemurs, chameleons, and weird insects here’s your chance!

Last but not least I am doing 2 trips to Katmai National Park in Alaska for brown bears. The June trip will have us photographing bears clamming during low tide, moms with cubs, mating and bears feeding on sedges and in flowers. We also spend considerable time photographing bald eagles. During the late August trip we will concentrate on bears catching salmon. This trip is a great favorite with photographers and folks return time after time to see this amazing place with these big bears. I have been bringing groups here for more than 15 years!!

I will be off to Africa for the next few weeks starting on the 29th, however you can still sign up for trips, in fact I encourage it! The sign ups are on a first come basis so that’s how I will look at them when I get to the states. Have a fun summer and I look forward to seeing many of you later this fall and in 2014!
