2012 Wild Horses Trip Report

As in past years the wild horses of the Pryor Mountains of Montana performed well for our cameras. This year there was little snow up high and flowers were at full bloom by the end of June and early July. There were a number of cute newborn foals with the family groups. One morning a winter snow storm left the blooming flowers covered with fresh snow for a few hours which was nice. We also saw black bear cubs as well as bighorn sheep and mule deer on our travels up the 8000 foot mountain. This is a trip I do each July with a small number of photographers.

The horses were amazing with lots of interaction between stallions this year. (see slide show) For those of you who have dreamed about wild horses running free this is the trip! I'll be leading another next year in early July as well and I suggest you sign up early. See you in Montana.

This is a trip I lead often. It is a favorite with wildlife photographers and is often full a year in advance so please plan accordingly.

Call me at 406/245-4365 or email to inquire about future Pryor Mountains nature photography trips!
